AskMrRobot stat weights and BiS List

Yes, that's correct. Your personal stat weights will be a bit lower than the default stat weights given by AMR, and thus you probably wouldn't want to use pure haste gems and so forth in your gear. (Doing this wouldn't allow you to hit any important haste break points due to the limitations of the lower iLevle items, so in the end you're just losing spellpower by not taking int gems.)

So when ARE the default AMR stat weights most applicable? Also, we have concluded that the discrepancy is solely with the stat weights being plugged in and not AMR, correct? If I go sim dumer tonight and plug the new stats into AMR, I shouldn't have to do any further adjustments?

I don't have an intimate knowledge of their code, but I think on the whole the site works very well. If you use the stat weights you get from simming your character, it should work just fine. I'd set hit a fraction higher than your next highest secondary stat however, because the hitcap and the nature of reforging restricts its value.

I think their stat weights would start matching yours once you have quite a bit of heroic mode gear.

Dumer,
I wanted to jump in and offer a bit of help.

Plugging in stat weights from your own Sims will get you good gem/enchant/reforge suggestions. However, as your gear changes, you'll need to keep updating the weights. You can probably just do this every now and then, when your item-level gets significant increases.

There's one thing to note about using custom stat weights, however. It will affect the BiS and upgrade lists. For example, if the weight for Haste is lower for your current set of gear, Mr. Robot will pick a BiS set where Haste isn't as important.

We get our stat weights by running a lot of sims over various gear levels. We continue to run these trials until we converge on a stable set of weights, slightly favoring the higher end gear. This generates good optimizations as well as a good BiS list.

That being said, we do encourage people to plug in their own weights. I just want to be sure to explain what it will affect, and how it will affect things :)

And lastly, for lower gear levels, weighting Int a big higher so you don't gem for Haste will get you a little more DPS. When testing your gear it got you an extra 120 DPS. Not much, as you can see, but it does get you more.

For what it's worth, my observations mirror Zoop's comments above. In fact, I was surprised at how much the BiS list changes (even at lower levels). It's worth remembering that, while these lists are conventient, they aren't static. They vary as we gear-up (even minor differences to/from Haste/Int/Spirit) and should therefore be considered when factoring weights.

BTW, I like the improvements to AMR. Well done.

Quick and stupid question: Everything I've read says that 15% is the hit cap but askmrrobot optimize sends me to 13.67. However, when I mouse-over my hit it tells me that I have 0.00% chance to miss on a raid boss.

What am I missing?

It's possible there's a racial bonus involved, plus some expertise somewhwere.

A lot of the racial bonuses give you 1% hit or 1% exp. It depends on the race and the weapon you have equiped.

Also sometimes when you are looking at your character sheet, expertise doesn't register as hit. However, it still counts and works towards achieving cap.

I used the stat weights from a sim I did of myself with 2 targets, light movement, and "Good" player selection to try and get as close to a real-world sim as possible. I didn't feel a single target sim would be as useful since most encounters in MoP seem to have more than 1 target.

Crit wound up being quite a bit ahead of haste and mastery for me.

[edit]

And of course, I just simmed myself again using 'Elite' after a few upgrades and now haste is ahead of crit again... resimmed keeping everything the same using 'Good' and crit comes out ahead of haste... interesting. So if you can minimize downtime, haste is better, but if you have a lot of breaks in your uptime, crit is better?
