Heroic Spine

Heroic Spine

Postby Naf » January 19th, 2012, 11:18 pm

I need tips, advice anything to help me out! I've reforged to mastery. Is there certain trinkets that I should use? Right now I'm using Bottled Wishes and LFR Will. We don't have a warlock, so no DI or 10% spellpower buff. I need any tips you guys can give me for maximizing tendon damage. I've been using the Archangel/Fiend spike blast rotation. I rarely can get fiend up again for the 2nd go on the tendons.

My armory: http://us.battle.net/wow/en/character/b ... Naf/simple

Trinkets I have: DMC: Volcano, 391 Necromantic Focus, 384 Variable Pulse Lightning Capacitor, 410 Cunning the Cruel.

As our burst on the tendons strongly correlates with having fiend ready or not, I reforged back to haste after a few tries, because I did not have the fiend ready for the 2nd go on the tendons. I would stick with the trinkets you already wear.
My rotation starts with MB3, pop burst macro (trinket, AA, fiend), MS till MB comes off CD, MB3 and so on...
For training purposes I tried the rotation on the dummy and pulled between 1.0-1.2m damage in that 18s.
Good Luck for the fight!

Using this log for reference...
It looks like the first Tendons you got a bit of a late start and I'm guessing you had no Shadowfiend for the second Tendons.

Personally, I stack as much Mastery and Crit as possible since your Mind Spikes/Blasts are the main source of damage and Crit will help ensure that your Mind Flays will get your Shadowfiend off CD.
If you want to look at my armory, you can see exactly what I'm using for Heroic Spine as it is a pain to keep reforging and swapping gear. You can also check out this log to see how much damage I do.

A handy macro that I use that can help with targetting the Tendons and getting your CDs up quickly:

Code: Select all
/cleartarget
/targetexact Burning Tendons
/stopmacro [noexists]
/cast Shadowfiend
/cast Archangel
/use item:77114
(I use "targetexact" since "target" would only target anything starting with "Burning" and could possibly target something like Burning Treants)
This macro is spammable, as it will not pop CDs until it has targeted Burning Tendons.

I have tried various trinket combinations and Bottled Wishes + (Heroic)Necromantic Focus seems to be the best I have come accross. I think the non-LFR Will of Unbinding might be better than (Heroic)Necromantic Focus, but the LFR version didn't seem like it was doing much for me. Mastery is just extremely good because it is effectively 3x better than normal since you have 3 Shadow Orbs most of the time for each Mind Spike/Blast.

I hope this information helps!

As a minor suggestion, /targetexact for some reason doesn't always work for me.

/tar boss2 has been working flawlessly though.

Started this tonight with a full haste setup, but I'm at 3608 haste with the bottled wishes trinket. I'm planning on going mastery to try it out, but is there a certain amount of haste I should keep if anyone knows?

EDIT: Nvm really, kept my hitcap and reforged all to mastery were I could and can only get to 1422 mastery and 3013 haste. We'll see how this goes on tendon damage.

/tar boss2
/stopmacro [noexists]
/cast archangel
/use 14
/cast mind spike
/cast [target=boss2] mind spike
/tar boss2

Spam this. use 14 is bottle slot trinket. YOu can spam this while waiting for it to become vulnerable. You need to have a clear target tho. You can add a clear esist to the front if you want.

Basically what you want to do is spam this twice get to MS off cast fiend, then mindblast with 3 orbs, ms 4 times wait that .5 seconds to MB so you have 3 orbs ms 3 times mf 1 tick and mb once. With this rotation you get 3 MBs with 3 Orbs each.

What you want to do is go to wowreforge.com set mastery to 10 haste to 1 crit to 5 and hit/spirit to 9 this will give you the best dps for tendons possible. the dps over the rest of the fight will be low but you should easily be doing 140k a tendon. For trinkets the best results I've gotten were moonwell chailce/bottled wishes these two can be easily interchanged depend on what you have at your disposal and heroic NFC. To keep NFC you want to dot like 4-5 bloods before you kill the Amalg. This way with sw:p rolling on the mobs it keeps your mastery stack up the whole duration and it keeps the possibility if you ever get a spike w/o orbs to possible proc orbs.

Also Zurie I suggest not using that macro, you want to get 3, 3 orb mindblasts off to maximize your dps on the tendon. And with that macro you wont have the time to get the orbs for that last MB.

Thanks for the information Drye, i forgot about wowreforge. That helped a bit, netted me more mastery and less haste to try out sunday. Also thanks for the macro. Our first night of attempts I wasn't using a target macro so I lost out on some dps time.

yeah spamming that macro allows the most possible uptime on the tendons.
