Below is the latest listing of the best raid gear available for patch 5.0.5.

Items in the following lists are ranked according to the normalized values of their stats. Stats are represented via PP (Pseudo Points) -- how valuable a given stat is -- normalized to where Intellect = 1PP.

The values of hit and spirit have been computed by Simulation Craft and may have slightly different values (as SC only accounts for DPS gains from stats); however, as a rule, spirit is always superior to hit due to offspec possibilities.

The values of set bonuses are included under any given item for a set along with the value of the item if it is being used to get towards the no bonus, 2p bonus, and 4p bonuses. I.E. for the T14 Helm:

The total for no set bonuses (such as if this is the only piece of T14 you have, or if you have 3 pieces of T14 and you're 'using' the other 2 pieces of T14 you have to get the 2p bonus, or if you have 5 pieces of T14 and you're using the other 4 pieces to get the 2p and 4p bonuses) is 2371.8195PP (main line); using this piece to get the 2p bonus it is worth 2961.5083PP (second line), and using this piece to get both the 2p and 4p bonuses is worth 3327.7086PP (last line).

Thanks Twintop for the effort in making this and the raid BiS gear list (plus anyone else that may have helped you).

One minor detail, in the first sentence, you say the list is for raid gear, rather than pre-raid.

Shouldn't the red gems in the 397/410/416 ilvl items be Brilliant Queen's Garnet's rather than Brilliant Primordial Ruby`s as the Primordial Ruby's require an ilvl 417 item to be fitted?

Quick question, would it be worth it to change to inscription for the first patch just for the relic of yulon? It looks like its gona be top 4 in trinkets for the patch and trinkets are always a big part of dps.

Currently I am tailoring (for cloakweave) and herbalism (this one I would drop for inscrip) Now that all the professions have pretty much the same bonuses on int gain, besides maybe the engineering gloves I figured it would probably be worth it.

I have the money to swap so that isn't a big deal, and could swap again after the first patch once the trinket becomes obsolete.

I also noticed that the new pre raid BIS staves will be from inscrip so that is a good incentive to change as well.

Also, if it isn't a good choice then a suggestion for something to change to besides herbalism would be great. Thank you!

A few things to keep in mind:

  • Herbalism, Skinning, and (especially) Mining offer far lower PP benefits to Shadow than *any* other profession, since they are gathering professions. Replacing Herbalism with any other profession will give you a very good boost in comparison.
  • The Inscription staves are Bind to B.Net Account, so if you have an alt Inscriptionist you can craft them there and give them to your Priest. Also, the Inscription offhands are BoE, as is Relic of Yu'lon.
  • Veiled has posted a list of professions and their PP values.

Really the choice comes down to what you think is most worthwhile. Engineering has lots of fun toys (and a decent helm and trinket), JC/Enchanting/Inscription are things you'll use throughout the x-pack, etc.
