Aahhh the lightwell, its like a long running joke in my guild. Back in the day when you had to run to it, we had a very loud priest who'd get cross and shout at people to use it all the time. Ofc back then it would hinder any dps's job to run to it, needless to say it grated on the raid. I can't bring myself to tell people to use it now for fear of sounding like him! I have one tank who's amazing at using it, and it gets occasional use from others. For the mana it costs I wonder whether its worthwhile. I should probably go to the effort of figuring out the HPM for the use it gets.

Early Cataclysm, on normal modes and the start of heroics it was awesome, I used to get a lot of 'free' HPS from it and even glyphed it. Not sure how valuable it is now though, we don't run with a Holy Priest so I never see it... I do like that they changed it so you can use it while channeling though.

I miss lightwell sooo much! Our healer switched to Disc and is loving it, but Lightwell was so incredibly useful. I especially liked it for at the end of boss fights, it made me to not feel guilty about using sw: death.

We loves lightwell. It helps that the person saying to use it isn't the holy priest. During heroic rhyolith attempts if stacks got high it would ALWAYS be called out "use the lightwell." Or lock cookies.


Lightwell is too amazing to not use.

If you're raid leader is doing anything but confronting those people and instructing them to make use of the LW, he or she is doing it WRONG.

There is absolutely no point to NOT use it.

Back in the day when I was holy (pre-shield buff) I added lightwell to grid and started calling people out by name on vent. It took a week or two but everyone eventually started clicking it without me having to call their name.

With the amount of haste on the new cata gear. I've been finding myself with Extra talent points since I no longer need darkness. I've picked back up Lightwell. I drop it when its up and we always have logs posted to our website but people just continue to make excuses. I cant wait to get my 4 piece t12.

This is pretty late to post, but it's pretty easy to get my guild to use my lightwell. Being an officer helps, obviously, but screaming to click it over and over kind of makes them so annoyed that they click it just to make me stop. I started using our two glyphed lightwells on heroic spine as small mitigations for Amalg pulses and it worked amazing. 1.2m healing for me, and about 1m for him in just lightwells.

It depends on the fight though, in my opinion, sometimes it's just kind of a wash to yell about it. I used it after the first black blood phase on morchok during progression, the second black phase on zon'ozz (the one that didn't have my Divine Hymn), somewhat for hagara's lightning phase, but that wasn't as important as the others, and then spine like I pointed above.

And one more thing! I don't know if RSA was mentioned in this thread, but it shows how many charges your lightwell has, and who clicks it each time, especially people who double click it or use it when they don't need to, pretty amazing.

The guys I raid with are slowly getting better with the lightwell, and especially in healing intensive places of raid, they automatically click it. Helps out that the raid leader calls it all to remind them, and now other raiders are doing the same.

You can teach old dogs new tricks, takes a bit, but once they get trained to do it, it comes automatically.
