If you aren't going to make much use of it, and you are going to keep casting smite/penance/holy fire and maintain the evangelism buff, it might in some situations be better to effectively waste the CD.

I'd agree that just sitting on it can be worth while, but are you really just going to sit there and mindlessly spam Smite/HF for 30 seconds straight under the guise of 'maintaining evangelism'... you can easily maintain with just HF. there are plenty of opportunities to prepare the raid for an AOE with DA/SShell bubbles at the very least. So it really is more of a situation of using AA smartly instead of just "I HAVE 5 STACKS... AA!"

last night we did Heroic stone guard and popped AA/SS right before overload or if the tanks got pretty low and it worked wonderfully with Gheal just one cast I saw over 100k+ absorbs constantly, effectively giving our other healer time to bring them up.

What stat setup do you guys think might be optimal for heroic Gara'jal? I figured I'd try stepping away from mastery since there isn't as much PoH spam and it doesn't seem very effective for topping people in the spirit world. Crit seems attractive for more DA procs off flash heal and it scales SS as well as mast while haste seems attractive for more pw:s through SoS and buff stacking in the spirit world. Maybe it doesn't matter much. Just curious what you guys think.

We are not there yet but I was thinking of doing the same as you. I was thinking of losing some of my mastery/crit (crit first) and convert to haste for the speed.
I do have a question for you Derevka on your mastery section you state that for every 600 rating equals 2.5% increase in absorbs but then later you say 300. Im a bit confused at that or did I miss something. Im going to start messing with reforging soon and I want to be sure I get the conversions right to weigh in my options. thanks all for the info i love coming here, seems like im always learning something new.

Mastery scales better with Spirit Shell than crit, MUCH better. Per % it's the same, but per point is where you see the difference. It takes 240 points of mastery rating to gain 1%, but it takes 600 points of crit rating.

Would you say it's inevitable to play with atonement/Archangel when considering playing a discipline priest?
I really do not like this play style at all and would rather consider rerolling my paladin (or Holy Priest) than having to play a "Smite"priest. It's just not what I like, sadly. (Though I have tried)

You don't have to. I've been ignoring it while learning spirit kings because of the movement complexity and retaliate. I tend to fall more middle of the pack on recount instead of top 1-2 when I don't use it. A good happy medium is stacking it with HF on cd. You can easily pop it every 50 sec that way.

Does Atonement double-dip on Twist of Fate?

I wonder why you value haste over mastery. After SS / Atonement buff mastery looks better in theory. Is there any math you used to prove haste advantage or is it personal preference?

Err where did you see Haste being preferred over Mastery?

Your Basic Secondary Stat Priority Should Be:

1. Spirit up to the point you are comfortable with regen
2. Mastery given its direct impact to PW: Shield, DA, and Spirit Shell (See the Spirit Shell section of this guide for more information)
3. Crit and Haste are of similar priority, and are roughly equal and can vary based on spell usage and healing role.

Mastery is THE stat for Disc--- look at the guide, and specifically pay attention to Spirit Shell.

Numerous typos not withstanding, your stated CD on Halo in the Talent Breakdown section is incorrect. It's a 40 second cooldown, not 45. Also, a lot of your spell/ability tooltips are outdated - Evangelism for example.
