5.0.5 9/18 hotfix

5.0.5 9/18 hotfix

Priest
- Angelic Feathers can now be used by all party members when the priest under the influence of crowd control spells, and no longer require line-of-sight to the priest to work
- Penance's base damage has been reduced so that it now deals significantly less damage at lower player levels, and slightly less damage at level-85.
- Shadow Word: Insanity should now deal 2667 to 2815 damage plus 290% of spellpower at level-85 (up from 2235 to 2359 plus 243% of spellpower).
- Mindbender damage has been increased by 20%. It now does 80% as much damage per hit as Shadowfiend (up from 66.7%).

SW:I buff, Mindbender buff, Angelic Feathers (sort of) fix (never noticed it but i guess!)

I'm holding my breath in the hopes that one of them catches up to FDCL...

It's definitely my least favourite talent. Just feels clunky and awkward. Something I loved about my Shadow Priest (prior to 5.0.4) is the floooow of the rotation. FDCL interrupts it horribly with jarring GCDs, procs can diaf as far as I'm concerned :)

I do like the skill potential involved in SWI though. Having an additional consideration weaved into dot watching is all good.

Is it your wedding, Twintop? If so, congrats! And let me take this opportunity to thank you for your excellent blog. It's my first port-of-call when I log on.

Yes, it is. :) Thank you (on both counts)!

I'm actually going to be MIA (on the Honeymoon) for the first 3 weeks of MoP (leaving on launch day)......so this is just the worst possible timing for resims to need to be done, since Thursday night -> Saturday is just non-stop stuff.

Althor has updated SimC with the changes, though, so I've got resims for T14H going right now. Hopefully I'll know detailed changes tomorrow night some time.

Still guessing that SW:I is going to be bad, even with a 20% buff.

Well without the legendary... my simple practice on dummies is still pulling about 40k with FDCL to 35k with MB, and 34k with SW:I.

Tbh I still think the one thing that makes FDCL so strong is the mind spike glyph... that mechanic also makes FDCL increase DP uptime, something none of the other two get.

I really want them to make SW:I good... but soon they're gonna have to admit you can only buff the base damage and coefficient so much.

Interesting. They definately needed a buff.

Congratulations Twintop. If it makes you feel any better, my wife and I are going on vacation Thursday-Sunday the week of MoP. It was the "Compromise" for me taking off work that week to play the expac. So I get 2 days to play and then 4 days vacation with no computers. Heh. :)

...yep. ;)

On a serious note, there is either some very, very, VERY strange behavior going on with SimulationCraft, the BiS profile SimulationCraft uses changed enough to really dork around with stat weights, or I screwed something up with my sims... let me explain:

Haste is simming high. Very high. "Above Spell Power consistently" high, pretty much across the board...this is above the 8085 breakpoint by about 400, so it isn't a stat weight crossing the barrier issue.

Bottom line: I don't have time to dig through the data and play with it to see what's really going on (66 hours left with a full day of work, bachelor party, flowers, rehearsal, rehearsal dinner......you get the idea: go go go!). I'll rerun sims with a new version of SimulationCraft and take a closer look at it when I get back in the middle of October.

For the time being, if anyone wants to look at the raw data and do some interpretations, be my guest. The output files are here:

http://warcraft.twintop-tahoe.com/resources/UNOFFICIAL-MAY-BE-WRONG-OR-BUGGY/

Stat weights that I'd report from this output would be:

Two Target:

Combined:

...have fun.
