Website formatting

Postby miloomar » September 9th, 2012, 11:38 am

Just a quick q

Looking at the website, why is half of the realestate taken up by a blank gray background? Like 1/4 of the page on both the left and right side is just empty. It would be easier to see more words in a thread without having to scroll.

Or do I maybe have a setting off and this is just me?

Just switched my tabs back and forth between the WoW forums, h2p, and my guild's website. All 3 have approximately the same width of where posts go.

Not sure why you are noticing it more here. Personally I think its more flattering rather than feeling like you are reading sentences that are spread way out like on a website built in the early 90s. Paragraphs were a single line of black font across a bright cyan background.

It'd be nice to have the option of full-width posts, though. I don't know what forum software is even used here, but usually you can let users switch between themes.

here are a couple of examples

This page

and the wow forums

These forums have at least 2-2.5x the blank space on the left and right of the actual forum posts.

H2P looks typical of basically all forums to me, but I guess it's because I have a widescreen monitor.

The difference between battle.net and h2p.com is literally less than a centimeter. Do we really need to complain about something that is literally so small and pointless?

If you guys (and by you guys, I mean literally a handful of you) want bigger text and/or this site to take up more "space" on the sides, I suggest using CTRL+ to make things bigger. I won't change H2P's on-going theme/size that we've had for over a year and a half because it's 20 pixels difference from WoW's main forums.
