It appears one of my favorite addons Tell Me When will do this. I am already using it to track other things so making a new bar for orbs is no problem. The one thing you have to remember is that orbs are no longer a buff but a resource. So when making it remember to choose "Resource".

Now if you want to know how many orbs you have (which most people probably do) then things move into Advanced /TMW mode. Check out this post on the addon page for the import string.

Hey all,

Been reading this site for a while and ShadowPriest.com for years before that.


This is the WeakAuras solution (WeakAuras, by the way, is the most amazing add-on of all time) I came up with. It shows the number 1/2/3 on a medium-sized slightly pulsing icon while in combat - When you reach 3 orbs, the icon gets large, flashes and WA plays one of the sounds it has.

When Out Of Combat, it goes small, and over my unit frame (of course, yours will be placed differently, so move it around to wherever you like).


I wanted something that was front & center and noticeable in-combat, but smaller and out of the way when I was just walking around.

I love, love, love NugComboBar. It's already configured and everything, just move it where you want it, scale it, and change the skin if you want to. Awesome.

I use IceHUD to track my orbs. Probably a little bloated if all you want is an orb tracker though.

I use the new Power Auras now that I figured it out. It's actually, super cool looking, I have made one Aura, with 3 separate displays and they're all the same, and in the same location, except one of a given color will show up depending on how many I have.

Rubine already made a guide to do this on the thread "The New Power Auras" but I'll try my best in words here.

1. /Powa and select new Aura name it what you want I named mine Shadow Orbs and also put in the spell ID for Shadow Orbs as well as a funny description)
2. Click on the little picture of the Aura (It'll be some default design for now) then go to Activation and where it says "Debuff/Buff change that to the option Unit Power, and make sure to check Use Absolute Values. Go down where to the last set of options in that tab, and where it says mana change that to Shadow Orbs, to the left of that, change it to == if you only want to see one at a time, and keep them all in the same location, or select <= if you want a display of all 3 and press either 1, 2, or 3 depending on which display you're doing.
3. Go to Style and select what texture you want, color, and size, if you typed the ID in the Aura info, you can make it the Blizzard art, if not pick whatever you feel represents an orb.
4. Resize and add sound if you want.
5. Repeat more times by choosing + new display, but changing it to 2 and 3 respectively

If you want then all on the same spot make sure to select ==!

Here is an addon that shows your Orbs as a simple text counter (positioned just below your character by default), configurable via editing core.lua.

Hey guys. I'm new to the shadow priesting world, and I know you asked for a visual mod, but..

I like having as few things to watch out for as possible and like to rely on sound in my raiding as well. Maybe there are others out there like me.

I originally picked up this addon for my feral druid a long time ago, and I'm in love with it. It's probably one of my most valued addons. My feral dps seriously drops when I don't use it because I suck at staring at combo points. This allows me to focus on my surroundings more. This addon has expanded since then and now works for other classes, including shadow orbs for shadow priests. Basically, it plays a sound every time you gain an orb, the note getting higher with each gain. It then makes a sound when you clear them via DP. I love it, personally, and perhaps others will too!

I still love Power Auras... I actually legitmately don't like Weak Auras... I tried it when Power Auras was screwed up and didn't like it!
