Multi dotting addon?

Postby Coras » October 14th, 2012, 4:35 pm

Hey guys,
with blizzard wanting us to multi-dot more and more and not use AoE much, I started thinking about an addon I wanted a good while back. I can't remember if it wasn't possible or just noone had done it back then so I'm asking here if someone knows of something like this. As I believe this is the best place to ask for one, because who would want this more than us and locks? :P.

The addon im looking/wishing for is raid frames for mobs basically. Just like X-perl/Blizzard raid frames etc, just for mobs that you can mouseover and cast spells with mouseover macros just like on allies in normal raid frames.
Could either be all mobs hostile to you or just mobs you have dealth dmg to or something, and maybe some little dot timer for pain/vt in the frames.

Anyone know of an Addon like this, or if it would be possible at all?

There used to be an addon for this, but the functionality was removed years ago and it's not possible anymore. The best you can do now is to track them the usual way (like with Raven or ForteXorcist) or via displaying icons on nameplates (PlateBuffs does this, and it's also built into some nameplate addons but I don't know which).

Tidy Plates, also does dot tracking. It's how I manage multiple dots unless we're talking bosses here.

For fights that have multiple bosses, Shadowed Unit Frames, offer a boss unit frames display, that I use and I only track my debuffs on them.

As Constie said, Raven or ForteXorcist can track them, and I've used both and Raven for a long long time to even do some crazy stuff, but I've never really liked how they both do multiple dot tracking and at no fault of the adddons, but due to the limitation of how wow allows you to track multiple units.

Remember also that you can focus a target, and with focus targets you can also see dots and that is my preferred way to track dots for two entities.

Hmm I haven't tried raven before, maybe I'll give that a try.

And thank you Veiled, my mistake, I've used the site quite a while(even tho I just made an account) And I've honestly never noticed this part of the forums :P Tho I Pretty much just stick to the Shadow once so that would be the explanation.

Tidy Plates was mentioned earlier in the thread and EventHorizon only tracks DoTs on your current target.

I have tidy plates and needtoknow in use.
With tidyplates I see the dots and with needtoknow I have selected it to show debuffs on current target.

I've tried all mentioned above and I get so many bars everywhere, I use TidyPlates, because it's literally tidy, and again it's visual and not a bunch of bars. Plus I can see right intermediately what has what, because who remembers the names of the mobs??
