Gear and spec advice

Gear and spec advice

Postby Heavensdevil » July 1st, 2012, 6:26 pm

Hi all.

I was hoping someone could look at my profile and provide advice on anything I can do different to increase my DPS.

http://us.battle.net/wow/en/character/k ... l/advanced

I also have the LFR offhand from Ultrax and the 403 dagger and staff off madness.

Would the 397 trinket from Yor be better than the LFR spine trinket?

Lastly, we don't have a lock in our 10 man raid so no DI so would going for the 2589 haste plateau with higher mastery be better than I have it reformed now?

Thanks in advance for any help.

I would never reforge away from haste to anything else (like you did on your cloak, belt, and boots) unless I absolutely needed to for hit. I'd reforge crit then mastery to hit till you're at 17%, and then I'd reforge any piece that doesn't have haste already to haste till the 2589 plateau. I personally don't worry about that plateau and prefer to not reforge away any haste (even though I can't reach 3202 yet). I just like the way it feels better. My best advice is to try reforging excess haste to mastery one day and see how it feels for you.

The LFR Will is better than the Normal Insignia, so stick with Will.

Going by this weapons ranking list here, it looks like the N Dagger/LFR OH is pretty much on par (or maybe a little lower?) than N Lightning Rod. However that list is based on a single target fight, so when you take in to account trash, or fights with multiple targets, the Dagger/OH combo should be better.

Thanks for the advice Rabine. I'll work on the reforging. I was using reforge lie and that'swhat it came up with. I will try it manually and see how it works out as far as values goes.

I'll give the main hand/off hand a try again as well.

So you're suggestion would be to go with whatever haste I can get and adjust crit/hit as needed to mastery and hit cap?

And lose those 2 points in Paralysis.

Move them to Inner Sanctum.

So I did some playing around with the reforgin manually as suggested and put back the haste I had lost on a few items.

I did have one more question. I did this reforging with the MH/OH as the list did have it slightly higher, however, in doing so I did notice I lost a lot of mastery in trying to get the hit up and keep haste. I will likely keep the MH/OH because the normal OH has to drop some day (right?).

Now my only question is with haste plateaus. I know you mentioned that you don't normally reforge away from haste but what are your thoughts on how this affects DPS in the T13 burst rotation? I personally like the haste as it is easier to scerw up a burst rotation (sometimes just due to raid having to reposition) than it is to screw up having faster ticking dots. Do you see the extra 2ish% mastery I could gain by going to 2589 haste being a DPS upgrade with the burst or is it safer to just go haste and upgrade mastery as I upgrade pieces? Sorry for asking again but I thought I would get advice from people that know a lot more about the spec than I do currently.

Personally I just prefer to have the haste. Like you said, its easier to screw up the burst rotation for various reasons. Theoretically reforging away extra haste to mastery is probably a dps increase if you can have sfiend off CD at the perfect time, and you get to execute the burst rotation flawlessly. However my play style favors haste. You can always try the extra mastery and see if you like it better. And if not just go back to haste. :) Again that is my personal opinion, others might feel differently.

I like the haste route better as well. I just always thought I was doing it wrong by not maximizing Mastery. It's good to see I may hav been alright.

Now to go out and try not to embarass myself!

Thanks for the help guys.
