Need help, blown away by fellow guildy

Armory : http://us.battle.net/wow/en/character/z ... x/advanced
Some WWS: http://www.worldoflogs.com/reports/rt-s ... amageDone/
http://www.worldoflogs.com/reports/rt-s ... amageDone/
http://www.worldoflogs.com/reports/rt-d ... amageDone/

The problem: The other shadow priest is out dpsing me just about every fight and I have better gear then him. While it's good that he is beating me, I always find it a competition to beat the same players of your class.

The only thing I can notice between the 2 of us is sometimes he has DI like the first wws report and he has a few more MF's. Looking at the kills I have a higher dot uptime except on Ragna(i got hammered).
I recast dots with ES, again with proc's, maybe recasting so much that it's taking away from my MF time?

Anything noticeable that a second pair of eyes can spot?

You can't clip VT ticks. You simply extend the life of VT when re-applying and it will continue to tick at the same intervals (or change depending on new active or removed haste effects). The only downside to reapplying early (again, with no proc or effect reason for doing so) is that you could have been casting something else.

go a real race for dps racial!

Couple things about your gear -

Noticed you got a funeral pyre 3 days ago. Any reason you aren't using it? Or have you just been inactive?

In your chest, is there a reason you aren't gemming for the socket bonus (since you are already using a purified in the blue socket)? You are missing out on 20 haste without a loss of int.

What made you decide to buy the mastery wand instead of the haste wand? Are you MS healer?

Is there a reason you gem for some +10 ints and not others (I could understand if you were haste/hit capping, but you are still .30 under hit cap).

And of course, like others said, picking a raiding race (preferably Draenei) would be quite beneficial to your dps.

Just a couple things to think about.

I hope Drye was just trolling with that remark. When a person asks for advice on their gear, their race is irrelevant. Changing a race may increase your dps a bit, but unless you are in a hardcore guild (then you wouldn't be asking for a gear check I hope) changing your race for an increase in dps is just feeding Blizzard's money cow.

I agree with Spooxx's other remarks. Seems like you didn't really read how to gem in one of the guides available on this website.

Whoops - I guess I was just adding the race part as the "fix me" portion of the forum. Granted there are gear fixes, playing the proper races can help make itemizing a lot easier.

I guess I was just suggesting ways the op could up his/her dps so he/she doesn't get blown away by fellow guildies anymore :)

I will keep it to gear suggestions in the future. I'm new ;)

I'm new too (check post count) I just think that changing race is one of those things a person asking for a gear fix (rather than reading up) wouldn't do. But yeah, I believe Troll, Goblin and Draenei are the superior races for SP's and if you are one of those, your dps will be slightly higher ;-)

I can't find a spriest in those logs blowing you away, just one that's got DI, is on different assignments, isn't getting leapt on by Staghelm and is potting more often to give him a tiny advantage that could simply be natural variance anyway. Don't underestimate DI, I recommend playing with simcraft loading your own gear to see just how much a difference it can make. Just for example, I was pulling around 55k flying on Alysrazor 10N, when our lock came back from a break and we put me up with a mage (so now I have DI, 5% crit and 8% spell damage over previous attempts) I'm suddenly doing 72k without flying any better. Make friends with a warlock, I love ours, he makes me look good!
I did see though you took 11 ticks of Leaping Flames in your Staghelm kill, which is waaaaay too slow, if you're quick enough you won't take any at all. We killed him on heroic last week and I took one or no ticks each time, the entire night. Move further away, watch his energy and be ready to move instantly every time it hits 100.
