Generally Priest = Healer so it was the obvious choice for my first healer, and I just happen to be loving it.

For me, it was just a shadow priest fit the roll of a caster that I wanted. I love DoT specs. Affliction never felt right to me. Plus, shadowform is just badass.

Well, back in vanilla, I played a mage the whole time and stayed a mage for almost a year into TBC. Than had a warr, a druid, a lock, a pala and a priest. But I was always into colthies, so lock mage and priest were the ones to chose from when Wrath came out, and I chose disc priest. Was playing disc for the whole duration of Wrath/Cata and started shadow now in MoP. Just love casters :)

I've never been a huge fan of caster classes in RPGs.

When I started my WoW career sometime in 2008, I started as a human paladin. Loved the class to death, played through late TBC and on through Wrath, and still to this day the only class that I've raided with is my pally.

Cata landed and suddenly I hated the paladin. I hated the Holy Power mechanic (ironic since it's very similar to sorbs) and the class just felt off at that point. I had a lowbie priest and I remembered seeing some spriests and disc priests in 5-mans and I loved the Shadowform mechanic. I figured what the hell... transferred all my cloth looms over to my priest and immediately fell love with the class - first playing discipline, and then at around 60 switching to spriest.

Priests are now hands-down my favorite class in the game. It gels with me so well, and I'm of the opinion that we priest die-hards are a special breed.

My first max level toon was a Warrior. After tanking Kara for awhile, I decided I should see how the 'other half' (healer) lived, so I rolled a priest.

Unfortunately I rapidly discovered that I really didn't enjoy healing...at all. More like absolutely detested it. So shadow I went, and shadow I remain - I officially switched mains during ToC and haven't looked back.

I saw the graphic (That turned out to be a Pally) and I thought I could wear Plate, smash faces with a mace and heal (e.g. Dungeons and Dragons - I'm old...) I had no idea we were like "Warlocks-light" on the Shadow side and never got plate. So, after leveling to 80 I just said, "I'm here now. And Pallys are tards half the time." So I stayed.

Hi everyone! Been lurking for a while now, but finally couldn't resist sharing why I play priest.

First, curiosity. I have a lvl 90 feral druid, 85 mage, 60 hunter.. (have deleted dozens of Alts in various classes, races..) still consider my feral druid my pve main (for now..). Over time I've tried all the various classes to see how they feel.

I saved priest for last.. more because I'm fairly new to WoW (playing a little over a year) and wasn't comfortable with the healing role. Not knowing dungeons as well as I do today, after doing 100s..

First I went Disc.. last Spring I started with BGs (first time doing them and pvp). Read that was the best way to get started (less stress).. then started doing low level dungeons.

Then I started thinking last spring I might want to really give pvp more of a try.. was sort of fun and would give me something to do while I wait for Mists of Pandaria.

But I figured I'd do better on a class I was more familiar with being new to pvp.

I started with my mage.. meh, ok, but I felt weak, not so fun and I wasn't comfortable overall. Feral.. how could I not do well with feral? It's my main! ...but being new to pvp I don't think a melee class was working for me or something. Wasn't feeling comfortable, wasn't getting the job done for me..

I went back to Disc and healing in BGs.. Played that for a while.

I never thought about the dps side of priest, but after reading some positive things about them decided I'd slip into that Spriest role and see how things went in BGs..

Loved it! Fit like a glove.. I just felt I could do decent damage, some healing.. and survive! Great versatility and fun.

..since I started playing shadow I can't think about playing anything else in BGs/pvp right now. I've taken a spriest to lvl 84 and I'm playing daily. Can't wait to try the cata and mists BGs.

I have this feeling my Spriest is turning into my main. ;)

tl;dr ..i don't know. Of all the classes I've played (especially in pvp), it's the most comfortable, versatile (dps/heals), interesting.. challenging, but a ton of fun!

(sorry so long for my first post.. not usually so wordy lol)

Thanks for a great forum! Looking forward to learning more from you all. :)

One word, Shadowform, nah for some reason i just thought mindflay was the coolest thing ever so had to lvl a priest. it didnt get much love tho since when TBC came out i was the lucky shaman that was choson to reroll a pally healer, doing wotlk i kinda had to try out the DK and kinda liked the combo melee/spell caster thingymegic. so it was late ToGC my feltmelter started to shine.

DK was still main tho, doing the first tier of Cata DK got the love first, but had to leave wow right befor firelands since my new baby boy needed some attention. came back for MOP and now its Spriest all the way.

I played a Mage in Wrath, and a bunch of time was spent playing Arcane. I knew that after the two button spam fest I wanted something more engaging, and Spriest looked fun. I enjoy the utility, and love the spell priority. Shadow is easily the most fun I've had playing a dps spec.

My first char was a night elf hunter, and I was terrible. A guild mate was levelling a disc priest and when I decided I wanted to do something different, I rolled a priest for the simple reason that I would be able to ask her for help if I needed! I levelled as discipline and adored it. I remember being told that penance was the best priest spell ever, and hung on desperately until level 70(ish?) to get it, thrilled to bits when i did.

I healed ICC and we downed LK the week before cata launched, I was so chuffed. I continued healing all the way until May this year, but was getting worn down in DS, ended up doing more and more fights as dps with little to no idea what I was doing.

Realm and faction changed, and went main spec shadow and did ok. I love shadow but I'm still very inexperienced and so trying to get to grips with the finer details of the spec and be the best that I can. I'm by no means hardcore, probably average at best, and I want to really get stuck in now and prove that I can be more than a healer ( guildies are still trying to persuade me to reroll disc...)
