Prepull Shadow Orbs

PvE discussion for raiding & dungeon tactics, tips, and gear.

by Nixx » 30 Aug 2012, 20:52

So someone in my guild sparked this wondering last night, but other than praying for a decent supply of critters, are there ways we can pile orbs up before a pull after a wipe? Obviously for the first pull you can just save them from trash and if there are critters you can use those, but these are not very feasible. So, looking to explore any and all options on attackable consumables to generate pre pull orbs.

Anatomical Dummy

So dig me, maybe?

Edit: Crap, outdoors only. The search continues.

Imperfect solutions:
Anatomical Dummy (Long cooldown, only usable outdoors)
Ogre Pinata (Long cooldown, only good for one orb, ~$30)
Turnip Punching Bag (Long cooldown, only usable outdoors)

Best solution:
Puntable Marmot - Coerce your other raiders into bringing them and you should have enough to have full orbs most or all pulls.

Spawn it outside the instance maybe? Having orbs off the bat is pretty nice.

I was going to say Turnip Punching Bag, but apparently outdoors only as well :(

Ogre Pinata! Too bad that's TCG and has a long CD on it.

Also I'm not sure if you can use actual attacks on it or if you just melee it...and I imagine it would die in one MB if you could cast spells on it.

Which is possible, but part of the criteria to be an ideal generator is that it can be placed anywhere. I doubt my raid wants to wait for me to run in and out, generate my orbs, then run back in as opposed to just being able to drop it and go while we're buffing.

In my experience so far, zoning into an instance removes all shadow orbs, at least when it comes to raid finder and lfg.

Myself and the other Spriest in my guild were just planning on dueling before each pull :/ really wish there was an easier way... Like booms got. I'd be really sad if orbs drop when entering instance since you can't duel in an instance? (<--question) otherwise... Long ramp up time ftl.

If that's our ONLY ramp up time... yeah, I'll take that any day over SW, ES or DA.
