Overhealing at holy.

Swapping between specialization gears

Hello everyone! I have a small problem with specs and gearing and hoping you'd guide me.

I normally play holy/disc (dependant on fight) in my guild raids. Yet, sometimes I am asked to go to the shadow spec for 2 healer fights and yes, I am that third healer.

http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/character/t ... lor/simple

This is my armory link but it is currently on heal spec. I change necklace, weapon, trinkets, belt, gems and enchants for shadow as needed. As you mostly know it costs a lot to change gems/enchants and reforge specially in early content. It costs around 1-1.5k gold each time I fully change my gear based on my needed spec.

My stat priorities for Disc/Holy are: Int=Spirit>Mastery>Crit=Haste
note: Int=Spirit looks lame but some of my gear doesn't have base spirit stat so I am in need of it.

My stat priorities for Shadow are: Int>%15 hit>Haste>Crit>Mastery

So my question is that how can I optimize my DPS and HPS on both specs without re-gem/enchant and/or reforge? Their priorities are waaay different and I tried attunement build with haste prio but it doesn't cover up enough since its range is too low and lacks of heal as I have lowest hp for a reason.

Any suggestions?

Overhealing at holy.

Postby Ezalor » November 7th, 2012, 12:25 am

I play both discipline and holy specs at PVE and doing raids as a healer and sometimes DPS as shadow. I barely do overheal at Discipline spec yet I do approximately %15 overhealing based on recount statistics.

My stat prios are Int=Spirit>Mastery>Crit=Haste atm. and I was wondering what is the reason of my overheal. Because I really be careful about who I am healing to and how much overheal I would do.

I basicly have two theories for this bad bad situation and wonder if it happens to anyone else.

As I use mastery as my primary stat I heal a person to full with a regular CoH for example but mastery does overhealing, this is one of my "maybe" theory.

Second is that I lack of haste and other healers (one of my healer partners is going haste priority with holy paladin) heal the "gap" before I finish my spell which is the lack of coordination I would try to solve.

I also would like to note that I barely go out of mana unless raid takes some unnecessary damage (like garalon's extra stomps).

Went ahead and merged the two topics you created. In the future, please review the sticky when making a topic, and don't create duplicates as the issues you want to address currently can both be addressed in a single one.

The correct way to post in the Gear Check/Fix Me forum: viewtopic.php?f=19&t=1701

I will address your concerns but let it be known that your topic may become locked as you did not properly post.

There is no way to make Shadow and healing gear work well unless you are comfortable with healing and can lose some Spirit gems on a few pieces. That being said, Shadow needs much, much more Haste than Holy or Disc. So, your best bet would be to go back into heroic dungeons and make a complete healing set with that gear. Notice I said healing, the dps checks are more important imo and your Shadow set should realistically have the best gear given what you have.

Overhealing does not matter too much unless you are going oom (get more Spirit perhaps or throttle your output). Not sure why you feel the overhealing is a problem if regen isn't a problem for you.
