487 ilvl Spriest -- Need Help with DPS

Postby Photolicious » March 13th, 2013, 9:51 pm

I am looking over the guides, and was just informed that mastery is better than crit, thus my BiS list shared with my guild is not exactly the best choice to go with. I of course, took the BiS items from the guide here.

I am seriously pulling 60-70k DPS tops, I burst about 110k using PI, but I drop hard. I get that my gear level is low, and I am running with a guild that's trying to push ToT progression...I warned them where I'm sitting gear-wise right now is not going to give the best output. Our other shadow priests are hitting 110k, or a bit more, and keeping it sustained.

I might be doing my rotation incorrectly, but a little insight would be WONDERFUL.

Your gear level is not at a place where you should be gemming for straight haste. The general consensus is until you have ~30k SP buffed (or an ilvl of ~505+) you should stick to Red = Brilliant, Yellow = Reckless, Blue = Purified. Of course if you need to maintain the 8085 cap you can use some Quick or Energized in order to do so as long as you don't sacrifice more than ~400 int or so. You can also enchant your boots with Haste if you need to in order to maintain the 8085 point.

You should be using Int on your bracers and Jade Spirit on your weapon.

We can't really give you any feedback on your rotation without a log, so try to provide one if you want more thorough feedback.

Far and away the best benefit to my DPS was a result of thinking seriously about how to play each fight, rather than simply my own class. Making sure you're doing things like sniping SW:D for orbs (and ToF, which was my favorite talent by a mile last tier), dotting what you can dot, etc., that's the best generic insight I can provide. Thankfully, there are threads here about talents and strats for every fight in both tiers, so check that out to get a head start.

This kind of planning includes thinking about your movement (especially with MF:I), thinking about CDs and burn phases, etc..

I dunno, beyond that kind of stuff, all rotation info is on here somewhere, get to a dummy and practice it!

Yeah, I've been working on trying to get those two enchants around. I raid with a 25m guild that at the moment, until things are actually built foundationally, they are trying to sell enchants and such to the guild for half the price of the AH to build up the bank funds.

That being said, also transferring from another server and forgetting a majority of your gold on another toon, is not exactly leaving me hanging in the best spot either. Hi-ho, and off to dailies I go to farm.

I am supposed to be raiding this weekend in some of the older content to help get that higher gear level. I've also been keeping myself stacked with tomes so I can change talents around as need be per fight. :)
