Oh man, WotE. It's the most amazing fight for Shadow Priests. If you're not very near to or the top DPS on this fight you are more than likely doing it wrong.

First off: DoT ALL the things! You will maybe use MF on the Bosses during Gas phases but you spend the vast majority of your time VT and SW:P'ing everthing while burning MSp, MB, SW:D and DP where possible.

This might just be me but that fight is FUN as Shadow. It really exemplifies where we can shine and be the only DPS that can keep damage up on almost every mob driving overall DPS.

Thanks for the response - so basically just keep VT/SWP on as many mobs as possible. In regards to priorities though, is it best to cast MB off CD and use MS procs straight away, or only use them as fillers once everything is DoTed?

I found myself focusing MB / DP on the Strengths and using MSp procs on the Rages. In our strat SPriests don't have to worry about Courage so you may want to save some of those up leading to their spawn if you're assigned to them.

I approached the fight like Yogg 25 except that there are about zero mechanics to worry about, lul.

I will slaughter you and dance in the blood of your entrails should you speak out against my spelling again!

In all seriousness Firefox's spellchecker is the only thing that keeps from having too many of those, but when they're formatted for forums it's not always great at picking them up. Also Draenei is a made up word so it's bad at spellchecking those too.

Just a quick question. Is it work to clip MF. Like if MB or MS procs or 3 orb DP. Is it smart clip MF after 1 or 2 ticks. Should I let the 3rd tick tick. Thanks

I personally use Mind Blast on cooldown since it has higher DPET than VT or SWP. I only use Mind Spikes if I don't have anything but Mind Flay to cast. I sometimes use a Mind Spike to get a target below 25% for SWD. I use SWD as often as I can for orb and damage, higher priority than dots and Mind Blast.

Remember to try to get a feeling for how long adds are alive. Sometimes it is not worth putting SWP up due to its duration and mobs might die before it expires.

This strategy has worked for me quite well. Some tops logs do prioritize dotting more than using Mind Blast and SWD though. I do not understand how they do so much damage but mine and Kilee's conclusion is gear.

In the end I guess it doesn't matter that much, as long as you are casting something. It is a true skill fight. It requires you to adapt a lot to the situation when it comes to your spell choices. It also requires constant target switching, camera moving and checking spell CDs.

A few pages earlier in this thread there was a post describing a situation where when simming their character they were getting haste values of <0.5 and thus thinking that this means int gems > haste gems. I am also receiving the same results but I am definitely below haste plateau which heavily conflicts with what the guide says about gemming pre haste plateau. So should I ignore my sim and go with 0.7ish haste stat weight or stick with 0.44 from my sim? I've simmed all the different fight types and I've never seen it over 0.44.

PS. I was going start a thread but this question didn't seem to be answered. Great site.

As far as gemming for Haste and / or Intellect: you'll find a great post on that Here.

My current personal recommendation is to use Reckless or Purified. However in the next month or so many people will be able to become Haste capped primarily through gear and the current 'great debate' on the topic will be essentially moot.

Does anyone know where I can find the formula for Shadowfiend/Mindbender base damage + spellpower scaling (I'm not looking for stat weights)? Obviously simcraft has it somewhere in its code, but I can't find it =\.
