Reflective Shield as Shadow

Hello there,

as a shadow priest without a priest healer in the raid:

does the glyph work in shadow form?
if it does, does it work in PVE?
if it does, how big shields are we looking at here?

as I am not a fan of feathers (a bit clunky and chances are that someone else takes them) I am planning to use body and soul to increase run speed during encounters.

I was wondering if the shield can be a DPS increase regardless how little it is given that it's used with the above conditions.

It works in shadow form.
It works in PVE.
It's not going to be a shield that's super powerful but it will be enough to soak some damage and save your life. The current tooltip says 38,898 damage.
It won't be a DPS increase in the way you're thinking. You'd have to use a global to cast shield on yourself and you'll do more dps with any of your other abilities in a single global.

Hey again,

I am well aware it won't be a dps increase directly.

However as I mentioned, I'm planning to use body and soul to increase speed wherever I need it to move in an encounter.

Given we don't have a healing priest, that 3-4 usages in the fight might give 40-50k more damage.

It's almost nothing, yet was curious.

I think you're right on this.

I used the glyph on the tornado boss dude that hides than cleaves the raid. Since you cannot damage him when he hides and you need to move toward the targeted player using Shield for speed anyway i found it to be useful, but not a significant amount of damage. It was however free damage so why not.

It works and it worked in cata too. Don't remember ever trying in wrath. I used it on 10 heroic alakir as disc back in the day to try and squeeze in more raid dps. The talent only worked when the shield was cast on yourself. Not sure of the glyph version.

Confirmed, this talent was working in a limited form during Cata. It usually did not apply to bosses, but it did apply to adds and mini bosses, such as the Behemoth's fire breath on Halfus.

Not sure about self vs others, more testing required.

The sole reason I brought this up is that, this glyph, given the right conditions, could be the one and only DPS increase (even if insignificant) glyph in the game atm.

Glyph of Mind Spike with FDCL or DI?

Glyph of Mind Flay will definitely end up being a DPS increase in raids. By how much, it's anyone's guess, but moving faster always results in getting planted again in order to start casting.
