Troves of the Thunder King Scenario

Troves of the Thunder King Scenario

Postby Trevar » 14 Mar 2013, 08:27

Anyone have tips on the Troves of the Thunder King Scenario? I haven't done it yet but I'm wondering how specifically shadow priests can run it optimally. I intend for this thread to be a continually updated guide on how shadow priests can optimally run the scenario.

I know we can levitate over traps instead of needing Potion of Light Steps.

The other items we can buy are:
A Common Rock
Sleep Dust
Arcane Propellant
Polymorphic Key
Frost Rune Trap

Also possibly useful:
Invisibility Potion
Salyin Battle Banner
Essence of the Breeze
Rod of Ambershaping
Darkwater Potion

Talents with possible usefulness:
Psyfiend?
Void Tendrils?
Body and Soul?
Angelic Feather?
Mindbender? (I like it with fade.)
Power Infusion?

Glyphs:
Glyph of Levitate? Might be useful for moving fast.

I've been waiting to get higher rep so I can purchase those Sunreaver Offensive tools before using my keys.

Rewards==============================

Mogu Treasure Chest contains:
Tattered Historical Parchments
Elder Charm of Good Fortune
Shan'ze Ritual Stone
Spirit of Harmony
Incantation of Deng, Incantation of Haqin, Incantation of Vu
Gold

Golden Treasure Chest contains the same as above (but more higher quantities) as well as Burial Trove Key. A Burial Trove Key will let you open Lei Shen's Burial Trove which can contain Shado-Pan Assault Insignia and Justice Points. You can also get Treasures of the Thunder King, which can contain pets, gold, or LFR version of Throne of Thunder epics.

As an enchanter, I have been running it like shown in this video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2UeWwfadByc

The point of doing it this way, is getting as many keys and elder coins as possible. You basically just pillage the entire first room for everything you can.

Last run I managed 16 elder charms, and the run before that I got 13.

Now when I run the old 5.0 LFRs, I just coin every boss and end up with a lot of epics to disenchant, giving me 10-15 Sha crystals that I can sell for ~400-500g each.

I don't know if this is the overall best strategy, but it's quite lucrative as an enchanter on my server.

I've only done this once, but Feathers were VERY useful for me. Levitate works well for getting certain chests that are high up on ledges that you would otherwise have to jump for.

The sleep dust (forgot what it's called) is useful for the second room, but in my experience I just try to clean up in the first room. I ended up with ~450g and 5 keys.

I don't think there's any point to even considering Body and Soul over feathers, given the ridiculously higher potential uptime of the latter.

Is there any benefit to making it to the end?

I did one to the end this week and killed the end boss, God-Hulk Gulkan. When he dies, a golden treasure chest spawns under him.

Unfortunately, only regular chests were behind him. I was expecting 3 golden chests.

I think I'll stick to the first 2 rooms from now on, much more lucrative.

does anyone know where does the Saurok spwan/patrol? I Heard that there should be a Saurok towards the end of the second room? Never saw him in 5 runs...

Find a golden chest (the ones that are like bronze-ish with thunderblue) in the second room and he will usually come out of stealth on the first one, stun you for a second or two then run off. Use those jumpy things to get to him, void tendril and then nuke him.

With killing the saurok, I actually found sleep dust to be the best item. It puts the mob to sleep for 25 seconds, and its not broken by damage. He just sat there asleep for the full 25 while I nuked him.

...and Void Tendrils do a good job as well, if you're short on Elder Charms ;)
