Maximizing 10H Feng AoE DPS

Postby Dazbekzul » October 18th, 2012, 9:46 pm

My raid group is currently having issues with AoEing down the adds during the Shield phase on H Feng. I'm constantly at the bottom of damage done to these adds.

Are there any tips/tricks/suggestions that someone is using/doing in order to maximize their output on adds?

We encountered that problem too but there are a few changes we did that made it possible finally.

Personally: I swapped from DS to Cascade and only use it when the adds were furthest away from me. Meanwhile I just dot up 2-3 and then mindsear.

Raid: We had DK tank helping on dpsing down the adds since they have vengeance. As a matter of fact the DK tank did the most dmg to them. Below's the breakdown:

DK tank: 7.8M
Rogue: 7.2M
Hunter: 6.9M
Warlock: 5.6M
Mage: 4.9M
SP: 4.75M
Warrior tank: 3.6M
Druid healer: 2.2M

Overall our aoe is still shitty, but at least better than when I used DS; on the week I used DS, I only did 3.5M.

Hi,

(My english is really poor and believe me i'm trying to do my best here)

Your damages are for 5 adds (1 spawn) or more ?

By calculation i assume it's for 3 spawns. And i have to admit that your dps is extremely low as a Shadow Priest. I'm actually having a crappy gear and on our Heroic Feng Kill (10 man) i've been doing about 2.8m per spawn just by SWP each target, halo, MS and spam MB and SWD for the last alive.

What is your Mage Spec ? Our Frost Mage was performing 4m damages a spawn (12m Overall).

Could you break out your raid dmg to the adds for each raider? It has to do a lot with what others are doing as well. How many waves did you have? Did you cancel out every alternate waves?

For sure

We did 3 Waves.
1 : Done
2 : Avoid
3 : Done
4 : Avoid
3 : Done
4 : Avoid

Frost Mage : 11.6M
Frost DK : 8.3
Shadow Priest : 6.9 (Yeah My mistake, not 2.8 but 2.3. just woke up..)
Affliction Demonist : 4.0M
Blood DK : 6.0M
Enhancement Shaman : 4.0M
Prot Pally : 2.4M
Disc Priest : 143k
Monk (Heal) : 132k
Holy Pal : None

I'm considering myself Kind of "lucky" on this Kill, considering heavy Crit Proc on Halo and stuff, yet, i think there's much for you to do. Good thing with our Comp was Double AOE Grip. Perma Slow etc..

PS : Sorry for "Extremely low". That was incorrect, you did a bit more than the average. As you were saying, i think it depends a lot on how Croud Control is handle :)

Thanks, most probably you have more time for your dots to roll before the add dies. If I roll more than 3-4 swp and vt, I think either the adds were dead (killed by others) or reached the shield.

I think Vampiric Touch is somehow a loss of dps on adds. I might be wrong but ..

My guild successfully killed him this week. My method was to spec into Body and Soul with Halo. When everyone is grouped up, and the adds up, hit PW:S and run out. Once you're in ideal range, pop halo and spam Mind Sear.

To get a good idea on when to use Halo, use http://www.curse.com/addons/wow/halopro

I was originally planning on dotting up the targets and then mind sear, but honestly our dps is so low compared to other classes for this segment, than trying to optimize talents and glyphs just for the adds I think is an overall loss.

Instead, pop a 90 talent at range for cascade/halo or close for DS, and then sear I think is our best approach.

Optimize for the rest of the fight and I think it's the best approach, so possibly Mindbender and ToF since you want that last phase to finish asap.

I tried spec'ing FDCL to see if Mind Spikes would help on the adds, but honestly it wasn't as much a big a boost as just sear does on all targets.

I agree with Stevierg. I would spec for the fight in its entirety instead of focusing on such a small part. My damage on them was competitive with other class/specs by just using 90 talent plus mind sear.
