Glyph of Lightwell

Glyph of Lightwell

Postby Covert0ne » February 11th, 2011, 3:25 am

I've been using this Glyph since starting raiding a few weeks ago & I'm generally happy with it. I've managed to, along with the second Holy Priest in the raid train the DPS and Tanks to treat it like a second god.

Now, I dropped Glyph of Guardian Spirit. Would you consider the extra throughput from the charges of lightwell a greater benefit than the reduced cooldown of GS? I thought this over myself & went for the Lightwell glyph but now we have 2 active Holy's raiding I was considering switching back to diversify a bit.

What are you other Holy's using?

If you keep dusts handy you could simply switch them in and out.

On Halfus it wouldn't be a terrible idea to take Guardian Spirit but on Chimaeron I could see Lightwell being more useful.

It is definitely worth it. If your raid isn't using all of the charges they are doing it wrong. Make sure you position it where the ranged and melee can hit it - as well as the Tank. I always get the most healing out if it from the tank. Positioning and reminders are always key.

On another note, you should definitely pick up Glyph of Prayer of Mending - it's a new Major Glyph :)

I'm assuming you didn't adjust your spec after 4.0.6 because State of Mind in it's current form is useless. Also - no Desperate Prayer? You should pick it up - it's a free 30% of your health heal! No mana, instant!

Yeah. I have yet to change those, thanks for the reminder!

I've personally found I can do without the Guardian Spirit glyph for now, but the lightwell glyph is too handy. But like someone said earlier to always keep dusts on you. Switching glyphs before a boss ftw.

The Lightwell is only as good as the people who are using it. In addition to what others have said by picking and choosing glyphs based on the fight, I would also consider how well your team is using the Lightwell itself. Are all charges being used within the 3-minute CD and how much are they over-healing themselves? I've seen my team click on the Lightwell just because it's sitting nearby and they happened to see it, all the while they are sitting at 100% health.

Yell at them! I'm always like "I saw that 'so-and-so'" ! haha.. I track "Lightwell Renewal" on my Grid and I always send tells to people that are misusing it. I've played as DPS too and it can sometimes be difficult to remember/properly use it - constant reminder is the best way to get people to learn!

My team is currently struggling with some of the earlier bosses, so until we get better, I'm not going to take them to task over improper usage. Hell, they're using it and that's half the battle. Their usage is mostly good though, I only use my earlier statement as an occasional example of what I'm seeing and what to look for. I typically see around a 35% over-heal per fight, which I think is possibly better than could be expected.
