ShadowPriest MoP Dps Expectations

Postby Punkiy » September 21st, 2012, 5:19 am

So, i'm new in here, but i got a really annoying question flying in my head at the moment.
For a while i tested the SimCraft with my ShadowPriest to check how well i was going in comparison with the real dps i could make. So i kind of trust the results only as a comparison mark for me.
But since i was on Beta and watching some videos, such as some of Valiane of Method, i started to wonder, HOW MUCH will be our Dps,as ShadowPriests, on the real Pandaria.
Kind of hitting about 49~53k on (H)Ultraxion right now. But i see a lot of shadow priests hitting less than that, i get it from the level of the gear it would be normal, but the strange thing is, when i SimCraft, with an normal gear i got a result of 46k Dps on level 90, beta. When i punch the button with Heroic gear i can see not only me, but people hitting the 120k Dps mark.

The thing is, every stream or video on youtube i can watch people like monk, lock, etcs, hitting a mark of 70k+ but NEVER the shadowpriests.

So, are we gonna be forced down to the 50k mark of dps until we have a BiS item set?

You have to understand that most of the raiders on beta raided in pvp gear because it was easily obtainable and sims are all run using bis setups. 70k pvp / 110k bis is appropriate. You should expect to hit about 70-90 using a mix of heroic and valor items until you start raiding.

DPS will depend on player not the class. Also from checking most of the fights there are 2 or more targets nearly every fight which means more DPS for dot classes.

Shadow might be a bit behind on single target but makes up for sure on multi targets.

Another thing to note, as was stated above, most priests are using pvp gear and lacking stats that make us amazing. Reaching that haste point and having enough crit will scale so nicely with priests.

Not all people used the PvP gear in beta raiding. In fact, most people used old tier sets because all of the raids scaled your gear to a certain item level. Valiane, for example, could have been using a mix of tier 12 and tier 13 gear getting both 2-set bonuses (or even tier 10/11). Lots of people used the 2 set t12 in order to keep mindbender up 100% of the fight.

*Edit* To top that off, Dragonwrath did not proc so lots of people swapped that out as well. Many people did different things in beta, so take it all with a grain of salt.

Not sure if this answers directly, but I use Noxxic.com for some research. It is saying top damage dealer expectancy is affliction locks at around 107k, boomies 89k, spriests 87k as the expectancy. This will obviously vary from player to player considering variables such as, skill, net, hardware etc. hope that helps a little seeing thatas the target for raiding damage.

Awesome news! I just so happen to play 2 Spriests, an Aff lock, and a Boomy!!!
Guess I have lots of leveling to do.

Also keep in mind, a lot of sites don't do quite the simming rigor that Twintop has been doing. When you see predictions like those, try to take into account about under what conditions the simulations are assuming.

If those dps expections are on patchwerk fights... you might be in for quite a shock when you get into real raids. I expect to hear quite a few classes crying over shadow dps in multitarget fights.
