Cooldown tracker question

Cooldown tracker question

Postby Ashleycakez » June 1st, 2012, 5:18 pm

Is there a CD tracker addon that looks at your spell book rather than what is on your bars?

In a given week I might start out a raid as:
Spec 1: SoS/ToT Disc
Spec 2: Holy

Then mid-way through raid go to town and respec:
Spec 1: AA/A Disc
Spec 2: Shadow

And go back to the original set up for the next weeks raid eventually. When I do this and go from, say Holy -> Shadow, Desperate Prayer will disappear from my bar since it isn't an ability I have in my Shadow spec and I don't have it macroed (macros of CDs will always stay).

Then when I go from Shadow back to Holy, I wouldn't have a spell like Dispersion on my bar (if I didn't pull my cancelaura macro out).

I suppose I could just set up a few Bartender profiles for all the various specs I play (I think I'd still have to set up /cast macros for spec specific spells so they always show), but I was curious if there was a way to track CDs without placing the spell on your bar. If Desperate Prayer isn't on my bar when I respec back to Holy (or Disc PvP) it won't show my Power Aura for it. Is there an option in Power Auras that I'm just missing?

I wanted to just set up all bindings in Clique so I don't have to worry about placing spells on bars when I respec, but if I can't track CDs from within my spellbook I'd have to make a bunch of /cast macros and put them on my bars so the vital CDs wouldn't disappear.

Is there any way to do this? I've been wondering about it for a while.

I use Forte Xorcist to track my CDs and ICDs (for trinkets, lightweave, power torrent, etc.)

I took a few screenies so you could see how you can set it up. Here you can see a few CDs tracked on mine: PW:S, Weakened Soul debuff, Lightweave ICD, Dispersion, and Hymn of Hope. http://www.equineinspirations.com/wow/forte.jpg

And here you can see the larger "splash" icons that happen when the spell comes off CD. I have mine set to show the small splash right on the tracker, and a larger splash in the middle of my screen to draw attention to it. http://www.equineinspirations.com/wow/fortesplash.jpg

I'm not really sure if this is the type of thing you're looking for, but it does track things that aren't on your bars. You can set it up to be vertical, hide when out of combat, hide when there are no CDs being tracked, and you can change how long/tall the bar is, etc. I also use Forte for my dot timers, and I quite enjoy it.

Anyway, hope that at least helps you a little, and if that's not the type of thing you're looking for, I hope you can find the perfect thing to suit you! :-)

Forte is too counterintuitive to me x_x I can't wrap my mind around how it works. I've tried it :/

All your spells are still on your bar so that doesn't help me figure out if it works only looking at the spell book :(

Been trying to pick through minimalist UI layouts but not sure if there is just something I'm missing.

Dude, Ashley we just had this discussion on the official forums. If you don't want it to be that cluttered turn off all the modules but the CD bar, uncheck everything then add in what spells you want tracked.

If for whatever reason there's an overlap between specs and you don't want your Spec 1 to show up in Spec 2 you can set that up as well.

No Forte does track CDs that are not on your bars, I've tested it. :)

Thanks for the heads up Rubine. I might give Forte another shot. It was just really difficult for me to comprehend when something comes off CD. I've been using Bartender + OmniCC for so long that when I made the jump to Forte for a few weeks back in T11 I could not get a hang of it.

Not done yet but at least I have room for bars if I change my mind!

My OCD of making things perfect made just setting up unit frames, grid, and quartz a labor of 5 hours ... sigh xD

I know how it goes. The only reason I don't change my UI up more often is that I know it will take me the better part of a day or two to get it 'perfect' enough that I wont scream. Haha.

That's odd. I use Grid + Clique when healing and pretty much only have DH, HoH, MD, and PW:B on my bars yet I still get CD tracking for things like PoM (not on bars)?

Are you referring to Forte? Because that's what I said...it DOES track things even if they are not on your bars...
