Don't drop them IMO. They are giving you far more than Herbalism, lol.

But but turning into a shadowy floating herb is really cool! :)

Honestly I couldn't drop either because they were just way too frustrating to lvl lol

I remember cleary back in Wrath how tailoring stood out as it still does now, pretty much an unchanged profession that is awesome for casters. Before they nerfed JC gems(where the dragon's eyes or whatever they were called counted as a red/blue/yellow gem) it was the way to go and after that the best prof was enchanting by a 1 spellpower margin.

I'm pretty sure almost all professions are dead equal on stats provided aside from mining(+stam) herbalism(an inferior amount of haste meaning it's not that great), tailoring(which has a proc that is superior to other profs) and so on, I'm not entirely sure about blacksmithing although you'll probably end up with the same gained from inscription JC or enchanting.

Personally I've been rolling with JC and inscription so I can slack on rep for the shoulder enchant :).

I hate crafting professions. Only reason my main has maxed engineering is beacause my bf maxed it while I was at work (he's maxed on his Rogue and loves it)

My healer is herb/mining, I don't raid with her (she's my alt and the guild kinda sucks). I will most likely drop mining for Alchemy, and probably won'd invest in her until later in the xpac.
Level 85s:

SkippyNinja Blood Elf Fire/Arcane Mage <Taint Invaders>
Lucerne Human Holy/Shadow Priest <Resurgence>

Alts (just a few of my faves):
JudeDaniels Tauren Protection/Fury Warrior
MissRuPaul Blood Elf Holy Paladin
Sumeko Human Assassination Rogue
Takako Night Elf Marksman/Survival Hunter
Shamwiches Dwarf Restoration/Elemental Shaman

I have 10 alts, all classes, all professions, several alchemists, I guess it's easy to lvl and fun to do. I'm just slightly addicted to proccing :(

anyway my 2 cents;

Take gathering if your focus is on making money.
Take crafting if your focus is on raiding.

However some craft professions can be profitable, just as some gathering are buffing your char (tho hunters, rogues and tanks more then a priest of any kind).

And for raid professions, most are balanced out to buff about equal, tho some do give slightly more then others. Generally it doesn't matter that much which you select (jc, alch, ench, bs, engi, inscr are all widely used).

I'm probably going to pick up inscription/x on mine, simply because glyph prices on this server are ridiculous, or it seems that way to someone who's been gone for a few months. Is 400g for a Glyph of Levitate normal?
