Why did you choose to play a Priest?

Postby Ashleycakez » February 10th, 2011, 10:50 pm

I'm sure a lot of people have interesting stories about why they decided to roll Priest. And maybe even about the race they chose.

Here is mine:

I made my Priest after playing WoW for a while as a Warlock. I thought it was pretty cool when I joined groups and got the Fortitude buff. So I wanted to be super cool and buff people. She kind of just sat around at level 20 though and I didn't get her to 80 until Ulduar came out (I missed the spamming of CoH!)

I began as Troll and I will be Troll forever! Even though the BE casting animations are prettier and the racial is awesome, I much prefer Trolls. We're just so sexy ;)

Silly, I know. Priest is definitely my favorite class to play though :)

I played a rogue in vanilla (casual) and early TBC. I was terrible. My guild needed a shadow priest so I switched to my alt and leveled it up. Back then, I liked the idea that I could help my entire raid... The term "mana battery" is something that I miss dearly but I'm glad with how shadow has evolved.

Edit: Also, I liked how shadowform made my gear look less bad and always thought it was just a really cool mechanic. ;]

I used to play a priest in Ragnarok so I figured I'd give it a shot in WoW. It took me awhile to realize that I could actually cast spells instead of meleeing mobs to death :(. It amazes me how bad I was!

I can't say I miss being a mana battery though. I think having to use 6 mana potions on Illidari Council and wiping at 10% killed it for me :(.

Same here, DPS priest even! Though that's not why I chose a priest in WoW.

I started as a tauren druid back in vanilla, and got to level 18 or so. I convinced my friend to start playing too, and he wanted to roll a troll something, but I didn't know how to get to Durotar. I rolled a troll priest instead, and never went back. Haha.

Wayyyyy back in vanilla (before even Nefarion) I played a hunter. My friend, a level 60 pvp shaman, told me that he would get a bunch of allies to attack him in BRD and his shadow priest friend would mind control a few into the lava, then proceed to kill the rest with ease. Mind Control and destructive potential of epic proportions? I was sold!

To this day I am faithful to the priestly ways. Except that I am holy now but that is only cause I hate bad healers.

When I started playing I wanted to play whatever I thought would be least popular for the sake of some originality, I guess.

Turns out more people play a priest than I had thought.

I'm glad I went priest though. I have like 1 million days played on it. Other classes just seem boring to me for some reason.

I started out in vanilla lvling a mage to 29 deleting it then lvling a rogue to 60 raiding with it til start of naxx, then in tbc I went resto druid until mid Black temple where we needed a shadow priest so I geared my alt and since then I've been shadow and never looked back again

I always like the idea of a traditionally healing class going dark, blasting & flaying people's minds with magic, so, when I started playing a month or so after the release of WotLK, I naturally started a Priest with intentions of going Shadow. Unfortunately, around level 55, I got distracted by the Death Knight for some time :) Saw the light (or darkness) soon after the release of Trial of the Crusader and levelled my Priest up to 80. Never looked back since.

In my opinion Shadow Priest is one of THE hardest classes to play optimally, they always look different from all the other casters in the raid due to Shadowform, and are just plain awesome to play. Couldn't imagine playing Elemental Shaman, for example. It's just boring after a Shadow Priest.

I've played my Priest since day 1 of Classic. I've never been so fond of a class in any MMO before!

I just enjoy the variety of cool abilities we have compared to other healers/DPS. I'm a big fan of Mind Vision/Mind Soothe! I've played all 3 specs but have generally healed except playing Shadow in TBC & I just love Priest healing, I don't think I could play another healer class without being bored.

Priest PvP has always been different too & being a offensive healer for a change it great.

I blame family ,My son and his Gf played back in Tbc and said I should join them/ would love it..bought, loaded, and logged then asked "what should I roll ?" "try a priest " he said we need a healer (no mention of soft clothy who dies a lot ) and then "just lvl yourself to 40 fast as you can so you can join us in dungeons" and that's how Carcajou (shadow/Holy) was born, Have rolled most other classes but still enjoy ma priest best He was right though I Love It ;)))
