Hell, they're using it and that's half the battle. Their usage is mostly good though, I only use my earlier statement as an occasional example of what I'm seeing and what to look for. I typically see around a 35% over-heal per fight, which I think is possibly better than could be expected.

Yeah I think you're ok. I generally see that number too, sometimes lower sometimes higher.

I think tracking Lightwell Renew on your raid frames is probably the best thing that a priest can do. When we first started raiding, I had to specifically tell people to use the Lightwell when I thought they needed it. We've slowly backed off on that and now they thing for themselves :D

Personally, I switch between the Lightwell glyph and GS, but spend most of my time with Lightwell. I raid 10s with a holy paladin, and a prot paladin, so tank cooldowns are in abundance :)

Side note: I watch my Lightwell cooldown, and if there's less than 30 seconds left on it with the well still up, I remind the raid to use it and tell them it's going to despawn soon. They usually use it up before it goes down on its own.

That's actually a fantastic idea, I think I'll steal it.

Erhm, so the board just changed a lot when I clicked on this topic...And the font color button is broken! No pink for this post :(

That whole thing with reminding the raid about LW cooldown would be way easier if I could find an addon that tracks lightwell charges. Does anyone know of such a thing? I have admittedly not looked at all since I just thought of this idea...

You could just track the CD and tell them to use it. I don't think the charges really matter?

It's really silly but they get cranky when they all go to click it and it despawns because there was only one charge left. Our vent is usually really quiet and it's either me or my fiance talking, so I don't mind giving a little extra info if they want it.

Lightwell is typically used to help counterbalance burst raid damage. If it's still up by the time that burst damage is over then you either have a decent amount of people that think they can survive with their personal class mechanics (affi locks, hpals, etc), they're too stubborn, or maybe you put it on a cluttered spot that they can't see clearly.

My point is that if you have to remind them when you notice it's coming off CD soon then your charges will be used (probably), but not when they're needed.

Meh, I cast Lightwell ~1 minute before the fight starts, and then on CD as the fight progresses. We have specific times in certain fights where it's used as a raid cooldown (Feud on Chim, novas on Cho'Gall, etc) but there aren't options like that in every fight. I encourage my raid to use it proactively when they take regular damage, not wait for a specific "big aoe," except in those few situations where we've previously discussed it on vent.

I do also run with two warlocks and a holy paladin, so only about 1/2 of my raid gets a ton of use out of the Lightwell. (if you ignore tanks as well).

With WoL i've noticed that tanks tend to click lightwell the most. Healers and a few stubborn dps click it considerably less often. Atleast, with my guild.

@ OP - just rage at people til they click it.

or you can see who isn't clicking it in logs and publicly shame them. works wonders. ;)
