Mop leveling - shadow or disc

Postby inktomi » 16 Sep 2012, 23:05

Hey folks,

I'm going to be trying to get from 85 to 90 in one whirlwind day. Took the day off and everything. I've been playing since vanilla but I've never tried something like this before... I'm excited!

That said, I love playing disc lately. I want to heal long term after leveling, and it's annoying getting shadow gear and then needing to replace it once I'm done living. Do you think it's a bad idea to level disc? Will that horribly slow me down? Either way, I want to be at 90 within or near 24 hours played.

Should I spec shadow and go that route? Or do you think disc would work as well?

Disc's damage is a bit slower than shadows in the long haul... also shadow can multidot several mobs, while as disc you'll need to focus them all one by one.

IMO if you're goign to be mostly questing, go shadow with Dark Binding glyphed.

I'm planning on questing until I have all the instance quests and then popping into the queue.. Seems like that'd be the fastest way to get it done.

I should probably spend the week getting shadow pvp gear then. Right now I've got a full healing set and not much else. I'll also make some potions and flasks.

Shadow DPS in healing gear isn't going to hurt you.

That's kind of what I figured, and to that end I went and reformed some spirit into haste in my current gear to get a little boost from it. We'll see how long iLVL 390 gear lasts into mists...

In Beta it was tough for me to get Hit capped for Normal mode bosses even while grabbing up Spirit gear so I could queue as Holy + Shadow.

It took at least 12-13 hrs of played time from 85 to 90 on the beta, and that was BEFORE the 55% level buff, so I would expect it to take AT LEAST 18-20 hrs minimum now.

Ah, so you're saying I should be done around 8pm? :)

I've got all day. I'm going to see if I can do it. I've never done anything like this before though.. I'll be online at 11:30/11:45 in Org on Korgath - Voidheart is my name. Feel free to group up for questing :)

I'd go Shadow, and queue as a healer, you can totally go shadow in healer gear, due to the spirit being converted to hit. Questing is terribly slow in Discipline, I remember I tried to do dailies in Discipline in Cata and it SUCKED...

Btw, is Kargath a low pop realm, if so I'd love to group with you through Real ID/Battletag, because I'm on Illidan, and I know I'll mostly quest, so I need to be able to be transferred to a different realm through Battletag/Real ID.

My Battletag is in my signature =D
