Beotorch Feedback / Discussion
by Twintop » 21 Feb 2016, 03:06
Beotorch's unofficial forum home will likely be HowToPriest, but there is another page that is very important:
I have set up a public GitHub project where people can report bugs and make feature suggestions -- https://github.com/Twintop/beotorch-issues/issues
Feel free to discuss Beotorch here as well. I'll be checking every-all-the-places.

I see you already have inactive spec as an enchancement in github, but can we hope to see configurable talents as well? With Legion on the horizon (well, ish), maybe even think about letting us select any spec/talent combination?

Being able to choose what talents you want to sim with is something that I have planned that goes hand in hand (and is dependent on active/inactive/loading profiles before queueing) with some other features I want to make available (and will, myself, be using for my own sim runs -- if it further makes my life easier when TCing Shadow, you can bet I'll be adding it).
Being able to select what spec and talents is a further extension that I could do, but it would still have to use whatever gear your character currently has equipped. Getting too far in to a UI allowing players to change various parts of their character (past spec, race, talents, glyphs, and MAYBE weapon enchant or all enchants/gems from StatA to StatB) is a monumental task and would be better solved by letting players import gear sets from places like WoWHead. I'm not sure if I want to open it up to that level of configuration, but, I will have (eventually) a way for some users to use custom profiles/gearsets/APLs. That is mostly geared towards TCers and power users of SimC. Some of those features are things I will be using myself for sims so, again, they're likely to be added in the nearer-term future.
As for Legion talents/sims before 7.0 prepatch/WoWAPI updated for Legion, I'm not so sure about. I'll need to see how SimC support for current profiles works out in the Legion environment first and account for developing any one-off hackery to make current characters process correctly. I'm not discounting it as a possibility yet but we will largely have to wait and see.

But simming different talent setups with current gear is something I would probably do a lot more if it were easier (alas, I am very lazy) and a feature I would really like to see in both Beotorch and the simcraft UI.
Personally (and in general for classes with only 1 dps spec like priests) changing the spec freely is more of a "nice-to-have" feature, but it's likely equally important as talents for classes with multiple DPS specs.

What a great and easy tool !
I've used it several time already and I think one enhancement could be added.
Filter options are great when searching through your simulations but I think an option to delete old simulations no longer relevant could be added.
Also, I've notted that the link to AskMrRobot with the calculated sclae factors is wrong for eu characters, but it is more a simcraft issue as it is located in the generated html repport.
Keep up the good work !
