Fel Hounds S2M over LoTV

Morning,
Hoping to get some help and thought this was the best place to ask.
I have seen on Warcraft logs that many many spriest are using S2M instead of LoTV.
I was wondering if anyone knew when was the best time to pop it? I have only every played with S2M once and that was while doing the mage tower.
Any tips and help would be amazing.

Popping S2M is dependant of your kill time. You should time it so you die just before boss does. You can check how long you can keep up 2 target STM at class hall. If you raid with guild, you should check kill times from logs also. And get TimeToDie weakaura from the addons section of H2P forums.

Edit: You might get little more extra insanity from Mind Sears effect on class hall dummies. You can throw dots on 2 dummies and single target dps the 3rd one to avoid that.
