Hey all. Checking in to see how everyone is feeling about the new updates. I am unable to play for a few weeks and the anticipation is killing me... any thoughts, complaints, praises, please feel free to post them here and fulfill the wow void within me!

This is the patch I've dreamed of since ToT. I'm not stuck to playing a stressful, linear play style and the builds are fun and diverse while also not having me fall behind in damage, as you can see here:

10/10 for this shit. I'm seriously impressed.

So far there is one change which really annoys me, which is the mindsear change.

Damage kept the same, which is not the issue. But there are three changes which are really bad.

- It now generates a lot less insanity and has lost its use as a quick Insanity filler in Myth+.

- Its Cleave is not preventable, which often adds mobs while questing and in Myth+ where you dont want it. (This would be ok if you would have a strong cleave, but it feels ridiculous if your cleave is negligible and just adds mobs)

- The new requirement of SWP on the target is just a big inconvenience for three reasons:
a) with current Ilev MS sarted to become useful for small mob packs (like 300K spiderlings) while questing. Now you cannot use it any more, because the primary target is close to dead after dotting.
b) In old contend you cannot use it any more for the same reason
c) In PvP you lost a strong utility spell. Shadow was maybe the weakest class in PvP with 7.0 , because of close to no CC and no defenses. The VB change, while maybe neutral in PvE is a strong nerf in PvP. Alltogether Shadow is now even weaker in PvP than before, which is not even close to reasonable from my point of view.

Kind regards

Shaz

The unpreventable cleave is kind of a problem but it's not that bad. Just don't dot other things and tell your group not to cleave. It's not really a problem unless it's bolstering (like this week) and that just means you have to have your group not cleave at all, instead of them trying to sneak cleaves in like they're used to. You're not going to kill low health adds with Mind Sear.

Old content is not a problem at all and should not and will never be balanced, tuned, or adjusted for. If you want to clear out a big pack of things, use Shadow Crash. If it's on cooldown, just spam SW:P while moving and instant kill stuff anyway.

What utility did Mind Sear bring in PVP...? I don't think it's been able to break stealth targets for years, or maybe stealth targets just aren't dumb anymore. The VB change is somewhat of a problem but most pvp shadowpriests seem to just get to 100 insanity and not enter void form for the +30% damage talent. Not exactly class fantasy but it's pretty effective.

Overall the only problem with it is trying to AoE groups of little things with no big thing to cleave off of. Putting up a dot and flaying and having it die and having to redo that is kind of annoying, but then again if it's dying that quickly just Shadow Crash it and move on. You're basically never going to compete in those kinds of situations.

It's not exactly the most elegant solution but it's certainly effective.

How many stacks are you able to get with/without PI using lotv?

So far what I like the most is that I feel like I'm actually contributing to the raid.

Pre 7.1.5 STM was the only way to go. You where dead last in the meters and "IF" you played everything perfectly, you might be first. This means Entering STM at just the right time. So you had to have a kill timer or study your logs to know around what % you should be entering STM. Nothing worse then dying when the boss still has 10% hp or killing the boss and only being in VF for 80 seconds.

Post 7.1.5 now we can have fun, not be super stressed while in STM, and still do great damage. Last night in H EM, I would continually place top 3 in damage by either playing misery/crash or PI/LoTV. Best part about it, I didn't loss my food buff and augment rune!

This.

Having a quick look at the logs, we are still rocking the meters in most fights.

In M+ I feel a lot stronger than before.

Too good to be true.

So much this. I personally am loving the changes in PvE, but the whole time in H EN, I couldn't help but think a nerf is imminent.

Went from topping the meters at the end of fights under a stressful (and fun) condition, to topping the meters the entire time with a very simple rotation. I went ToF/LI/Sl/Misery/LotV to try it out, and there might have been two fights that I wasn't number one, with the supposedly-nerfed fire mage right on my tail.

It was very nice keeping food and rune buff (which I almost never used before) the entire raid.

Having less control with my legendary ring is a different issue...

Pushing little beyond 3 buttons and my only contender in raid is our guild's 54 trait Ret pally. M+ numbers have only gone up. It's obvious blizzard missed the tuning on some things up to the outright bugs I've heard of on other classes, but didn't they mention something of how they wanted to keep specs generally where they were in relation to one another? Shadow is still performing, just not with the ludicrous output of mandatory - study this textbook, logs and addons or get passed by tank dps sort of deal.

On a side note Prydaz is gloriously overstatted. 3.7k~ split equally between H/M/C makes it a super arcanocrystal in the neck slot (plus socket). wowhead shows a 940 Prydaz giving 3x1495, pretty much 4.5k of distributed secondary.
